- At the present time, the Internet reaches 61% of Germany’s population. That makes approx. 40 million Internet users.
- 64% of them are long-term users, meaning that they have been online for more than three years.
- Almost 56% of Germany’s Internet users are male.
- Within the group of users with the most purchasing power, 14 to 39-year-olds, the number of female and male users is nearly the same.
- Compared to the total population, the number of Internet users who work is higher.
- Approx. 57% of Germany’s Internet users have a monthly net household income of €2,000 or more.
- 91% of users access the Internet at home; every third user at their place of work or education.
- With more than 56% of all users, DSL is now the most prevalent way to access the Internet.
- 86% of users write emails, 86% use search engines, 61% keep abreast of world events, 58% shop, and 52% use the Internet for online banking.
- For over 97% of all Internet users, the World Wide Web has become an important source of information for decision-making prior to a purchase. This applies to trips, hotels, tickets, etc.
- Around 88% of those surveyed had purchased an item over the Internet in the previous twelve months.
