Station Agreements/Contests
Station agreements are live listener promotions that are integrated into the regular programming of specially selected, wide-coverage stations. Because of their high entertainment value, they are especially effective for product PR: frequent name-dropping ensures that your company and its product names will be anchored in the listeners’ long-term consciousness, as the listeners are also highly involved in the action. Ideas range from radio brainteasers to participant promotions that are accompanied by an on-location reporter on a frequently cut-in live feed.
Contests are a special form of station agreement in radio PR. They allow – for example in conjunction with product-neutral topics or a moderation service – opportunities to mention product and company names. The attractiveness of a contest generates positive broadcasting results. Because contests strengthen the listeners’ commitment to the station, stations are generally very open to this instrument of radio PR.
