Radio broadcasting holds a very special position within the media landscape – regardless of whether it be with up-to-date information, background reports, or entertainment. According to recent media analyses, around 80 percent of Germany’s citizens turn on the radio at least once every day, listening for an average of 200 minutes daily. That makes radio everyone’s #1 daily companion – and offers effective potential for your topics within a highly attractive target group: persons between the ages of 14 and 49, with a variety of interests, buying power, and an educational background.
- 98 % of German households have at least one radio
- 80 % have a radio in their private automobile
- 9 % of Germans already have an MP3-player with an integrated radio
- Daily listening time is an average of 186 minutes (14 to 19-year-olds: 108 minutes, 40 to 45-year-olds: 214 minutes, 50 to 59-year-olds: 219 minutes)
- At the present time, 341 different stations are on the air in Germany
(in the year 2000, that number was still at 250)
- The number of private stations has risen from 172 to 212 since the year 2000
